In answer to you request for recommendations we enjoyed:

We stayed at Hotel Adriatic and liked the view of harbor from the window. We ate at Sidro Restaurant (I think); it was quite good. There was an Italian restaurant that was very good, but I've forgotten the name. It was nice to find a very good Internet Café, just through the arched walkway. The North Croatian wines were a little too sour for our taste; we liked the wines from Hvar better.
